The Olympics are done, and Team USA prevailed . . . kinda.

The U.S. and China ended up tied with 40 gold medals each.  But we won the overall medal count 126 to 91, and we had more silvers and bronze medals than anyone else.

(We could end up with one more.  Gymnast Jordan Chiles got stripped of her bronze medal, but she’s appealing it.)

We added seven more golds on Saturday and Sunday:  The women’s soccer team beat Brazil 1-0 to grab their first gold in 12 years . . . Steph Curry led the men’s basketball team to gold, beating France 98-87 . . .

. . . The women’s basketball team won their eighth straight Olympic gold, beating France in a nail-biter yesterday, 67-66 . . . plus, we won three more golds in track-and-field . . . and one in women’s cycling.

Here’s the final gold medal count:  Team USA, 40 . . . China, 40 . . . Japan, 20 . . . Australia, 18 . . . and host country France finished in fifth place with 16.

America’s WOMEN crushed it again this year, winning 54% of our medals.  Men snagged 41% of them, and 5% came in mixed events.

Our female athletes also won twice as many golds:  Women, 26 . . . men, 13 . . . and our male and female swimmers teamed up to win the mixed four-by-100-meter relay.

14 of our golds came in track-and-field this time . . . then swimming at 8 . . . cycling, 3 . . . and gymnastics, 3.  China’s best events were diving, shooting, and table tennis.

So, that’s a wrap for the Summer Olympics in Paris.

The Winter Games are in Italy in 2026.  Then Los Angeles will host the next Summer Olympics in 2028.

The Olympics are FINALLY over . . . and they went out with a bang.

The Closing Ceremony ended with a hand-off from Paris to Los Angeles . . . where the 2028 games will be held.

First, the Olympic flag was handed to L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, who was accompanied by Simone Biles.  Then H.E.R. sang the national anthem and CRUSHED it.

Then it was time for Tom Cruise’s big stunt.  He was lowered from the roof of the stadium by a cable and took the flag.

He mounted it on the back of a motorcycle and rode it out of the stadium . . . through the streets of France and right into a cargo plane.

Then came the pre-recorded part of the stunt:  Tom parachuted out of the plane to the Hollywood sign, which was modified to display the Olympic rings.

Then some past Olympians did a relay with the flag . . . by bicycle, on foot, and on a skateboard . . . until it ended up at a beachside stage where the Red Hot Chili Peppers played “Can’t Stop”.

Then they cut to Billie Eilish, who performed “Birds of a Feather”.  She was followed by Snoop Dogg doing “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, then he finished with “The Next Episode”, accompanied by Dr. Dre.

The broadcast then shifted back to the Stade de France, where French singer Yseult sang My Way.

Cue the fireworks, and that was a wrap.
