Things took a bizarre turn in Chicago yesterday, when prosecutors dropped ALL CHARGES against JUSSIE SMOLLETT for allegedly arranging a hate crime against himself.

The State’s Attorney’s Office said, quote, “After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case.”

This doesn’t mean anyone thinks Jussie is innocent.  They just figure that forfeiting his bond and doing volunteer service, coupled with the fact that he has a clean record, was enough to lay this to rest.

One guy from the State’s Attorney’s Office even told CBS he does NOT think Jussie is innocent.  They’re just chalking it up to “alternative prosecution.”  (Jussie reportedly did a whopping TWO DAYS of community service.)

But not everyone agrees with the decision.  Mayor Rahm Emanuel called it a “whitewash of justice,” while Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Jussie owes the city an apology.

That won’t be happening anytime soon, because Jussie and his legal team still say he didn’t do it.  Jussie told reporters, quote, “I have been truthful and consistent on every level since day one . . .

“Now I’d like nothing more than to get back to work and move on with my life.  But make no mistake, I will always continue to fight for the justice, equality and betterment of marginalized people everywhere.”  (Here’s video.)

Emanuel and Johnson are particularly upset that Jussie isn’t copping to anything.  Johnson said, quote, “If you want to say you are innocent, you take your day in court . . . I would never hide behind a brokered deal.”

Meanwhile, there have been calls to investigate Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and her alleged attempts to influence the case.  Foxx has the Deep State conspiracy theorists all wound up, because she was approached on behalf of the Smollett family by a woman who used to be MICHELLE OBAMA’s chief of staff.

(Even though Jussie was obviously NOT exonerated, some of his celebrity supporters are acting like he was.  Here are some Tweets.)
